Three distinct weekends, each curated by a different association: the Pizziddato Sagra in early July (Pro Loco), the Nicosia Families Sagra in late July (Piazza Mazzini Committee), the Ferragosto Feast with mixed sagra (local associations). Attendance in line with target, with strong presence of Nicosians living elsewhere who return for the summer holidays.

Three weekends of sagra

From July to late August, three weekends of popular sagre animate the Nicosia historic centre. Organisation changes year to year (Pro Loco, local associations, neighbourhood committees) but the formula is constant: food stalls, popular music, children’s animation, local crafts market.

Target capacity: ~1,300 visitors per weekend.

What to eat

The summer sagre are the best moment to taste Nicosia cooking at popular prices:

  • pasta alla nicosiana with meat sauce and ricotta;
  • skewers of Nebrodi mutton;
  • pizziddati (traditional sweets);
  • artisan ice cream;
  • 24 Baroni beer on draft.

The exact 2027 sagre calendar will be published in June 2027 by the Pro Loco of Nicosia. Indicatively:

  • First decade of July: pizziddato sagra.
  • Last week of July: Nicosian families sagra.
  • Mid-August: Ferragosto feast with mixed sagra.
