Three days on horseback
The Horseback Pilgrimage retraces on horseback the places linked to San Felice da Nicosia, from the Nebrodi coast up to the city. In 2026 it is in its 19th edition, from 17 to 19 July.
It is organised by the “I Cavalieri di San Felice da Nicosia” association together with the Capuchin Friars Minor of Nicosia, under the patronage of the Sicilian Region, the Provinces of Enna and Messina and the councils of Nicosia, Mistretta, Tusa, Pettineo and Motta d’Affermo.
The route
- Friday 17 July — Tusa · Tardara · Tusa. Meet at 7:30 in Piazza San Felice, prayer and departure for Tardara; welcome of the pilgrims in the morning, lunch and return to Tusa in the afternoon.
- Saturday 18 July — Pettineo · Motta d’Affermo · Mistretta. Departure at dawn crossing the Capuchin friary. At Motta d’Affermo the effigy of San Felice arrives, followed by the procession and the Eucharistic celebration; the riders receive the blessing at the Church of San Rocco. In the afternoon the group sets off again for Mistretta; in the evening the caravan dinner.
- Sunday 19 July — Mistretta · San Martino · Nicosia. Eucharistic celebration at midday in the equipped area of San Martino, then departure for Nicosia and the solemn entry into the city in the late afternoon. The day closes with a shared dinner.
Registration and fees
- The participation fee (ask the association) covers board for the rider and the horse.
